  • Using educational technology experience to select appropriate resources, this site will focus on free resources that can be used in the classroom and be given to students for homework projects - especially World-Class Free Software - often comparable to or better than commercial versions --
    * with the proviso that online safety and security be maintained at the user level *
See Terms of Use and Child Safety/Security Tips first, and then Site Mission

  • Younger users are advised to use the Safe Searching section which has prescreened sites via safe search engines (many free parental controls are available too).

  • With thousands of viruses & other malware being released every day - your computer is vulnerable to data mining and fatal infections just by surfing the Net (unless you have detection software installed). Free security software is available (see security links on the right sidebar).

  • Before you make any other selections on this site, you are strongly advised to install and use updated download virus checkers. Also note that many sites install tracking “cookies” on your computer.

  • Most search engines have preference settings under advanced settings for safe surfing.

  • Yahoo!® shows dangerous web sites in red by default - which is a great courtesy.

If you use the Firefox browser, you've got added protection. The browser scans downloads--using your own anti-virus software--before it lets you get to the file.

  • Please read the Vital Overview on the left sidebar and then keep up to date with technology with the rest of the links - - all selected with K-12 Tech Coordinator expertise.

  • To deal with budgetary constraints, school systems around the world have already begun to use free, open source educational software. The top priority of this site is to show everyone in education, business, and government - particularly individual students - how to find & use all sorts of free existing & emerging technologies, especially a wide array of free, yet professional-grade software and online resources (essentially providing a free education via Internet access)

  • Every one can do something to help promote free education - even if it is just spreading the word about free educational resources on the Internet. You may feel more compelled to make even greater contributions once you see the commitments many benevolent programmers have made to the Open Source movement (i.e.-making the source code available at no cost) throughout the links on this website. (See Help Cause in the upper left sidebar) - Thank you for visiting this site.
