5 Theaters of the Mind:  Curtain Call -- Leave No Child Behind

Knowing about "5 Theaters of the Mind" (B. Given) through which all humans process thoughts, feelings and experiences can help teachers and staff developers create powerful learning environments, and increase the probability that "no child will be left behind."  Participants will examine and practice research based strategies that activate the five theaters and make huge differences in learning.  Specific information will be provided and modeled regarding lesson design, quality student work, environmental considerations and leadership support.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Describe five "Theaters of the Mind" and their influence on focused attention and learning.
  • Plan learning experiences that activate the emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and reflective theaters, enhance brain functioning and consequently contribute to student learning.
  • Explain how the five theaters of the mind can influence and enhance (or deter) classroom and staff development effectiveness.
  • Generate ways to use the content and processes of the session in their own contexts.
