This is what the road surface looked on the unpaved early sections of the 10 miler and 5K courses in mid-March 2005, shortly after a road crew had raked and reshaped the road (something which is necessary with gravel roads every once in a while). It didn't make for the greatest running... but by the time race day came around a few weeks later, some of the gravel and debris had worn away, leaving some exposed dirt for better footing. As of nine days before the 2008 race, the surface of this section of the course was mostly hard-packed dirt and very runnable.  (<< PREVIOUS | NEXT >>)
