Map of the Watermelon Park area

Watermelon Park is located at 3322 Lockes Mill Road, a few miles southeast of Berryville in Clarke County, VA. The park is approximately 18 miles east of Winchester, 25 miles west of Leesburg, 28 miles northeast of Front Royal, 38 miles south of Martinsburg (the race flyer says "28"; that's a typo!), 46 miles southwest of Frederick, and 65 miles west of Washington, DC. Check our driving distances table below for distances from more cities, and see the large map at the bottom of this page for a view of the surrounding region. Here are basic directions to the park:

If coming from the west: Follow Route 7 east. About 3.5 miles past the Berryville exit for Route 340, turn right onto Route 621 (Chilly Hollow Road, by Nalls Farm Market), then drive 3.4 miles to the park. Parking will likely be in a grass field on the right, across the road from the park entrance. Look for our yellow "PARKING" signs stuck in traffic cones.

If coming from the east: Follow Route 7 west. Two miles past the Shenandoah River bridge, turn left onto Route 621 (Chilly Hollow Road, by Nalls Farm Market), then drive 3.4 miles to the park. Parking will likely be in a grass field on the right, across the road from the park entrance. Look for our yellow "PARKING" signs stuck in traffic cones.

Keep in mind that the driving directions features on these mapping sites may point you to different routes than the ones described above. Our directions above are merely the simplest directions, and they avoid sending you on long & twisty secondary roads. It's probably best to follow our directions, but if you really want to get to the park some other way, go right ahead. Just drive carefully! If you have any desperate questions about how to get to the park, send an e-mail to the race director.

(IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GOOGLE EARTH USERS: The directions feature in the Google Earth 3D mapping software is notoriously bad, and if you use it to find Watermelon Park, it may devise impossible routes. For example, if you're coming from Leesburg, Google Earth will direct you into a quarry. We're not joking. You're better off using Google Maps online to come up with directions.)
